What's in the Bag: Aaron Rai - 2026 PGA Champion

Aaron Rai is about as everyman as it gets on the PGA Tour — and his golf bag proves it. While most tour pros chase the latest equipment, Rai showed up at Aronimink Golf Club as a true free agent, armed with clubs spanning multiple generations, iron headcovers on his blades, and two gloves on his hands. Then he went and won the whole thing.

Only one of his 14 clubs was introduced in the last 12 months. His driver debuted over seven years ago. And on Sunday, he sank 182 feet of putts to lift the Wanamaker Trophy.

Driver: TaylorMade M6 (9°) — Aldila Synergy Blue 70 TX shaft

The oldest club in the bag. The M6 was released to the market in 2019, making it a fossil by tour standards, but Rai's tee-to-tee accuracy speaks for itself — he ranked fourth in driving accuracy for the week. It also gave TaylorMade drivers their fifth major win from the last six.

3-Wood: TaylorMade Qi10 (15°) — Fujikura Ventus Blue 8 X shaft

5-Wood: TaylorMade Qi10 (18°) — Fujikura Ventus Blue 8 X shaft

Rai runs a wood-heavy setup, which is why his irons only start at the 5-iron. Both fairway woods are Qi10s with matching shafts.

Hybrid: Titleist GT2 (24°) — Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro White Hybrid 90 TX shaft

Used in place of a 4-iron depending on course conditions, this Titleist GT2 bridges the gap between his fairway woods and iron set.

Irons (5–9): TaylorMade P7TW — True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 shafts

The same blade irons played by Scottie Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood. Rai ranked first in strokes gained/approach for the week, including a 6-iron from 215 yards on the par-5 16th that led to a vital birdie. Unusually for a tour pro, he keeps headcovers on all of his irons — a habit picked up from his father, who used to clean every groove with a pin and baby oil after practice sessions.

Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM9 (44°, 49°) / Vokey SM11 (54°) / Vokey WedgeWorks (60°) — True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S300 shafts

A mixed set. His pitching and gap wedges remain SM9s, while he added the new SM11 for his 54° when it launched in 2026. The 60° lob wedge is a custom WedgeWorks build. All four share the same Tour Issue shaft as his irons.

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour V

The difference-maker at Aronimink. Rai holed a 40-footer for eagle at the par-5 ninth to claw back three shots, followed by a 10-footer for par at 10, a 7-footer for birdie at 13, and a 68-foot bomb for birdie at 17 that effectively ended the contest. He sank 182 feet of putts on Sunday alone. Rai switched to the Spider Tour V around the British Masters, having previously used the TaylorMade HydroBlast TP DuPage.

Ball: Titleist Pro V1

Rai has played the Pro V1 since he was around 10 years old. "I don't think I've hit a shot where the ball hasn't been where I've wanted it to be when I feel like I've done my part," he has said. "That's the reason I've used the Titleist ball for pretty much the whole time I've played golf."
